Case Study
In mid-2023 a private business reached an inflection point. After two years of supporting a loss-making division, experiencing a sustained cash burn along with a flawed organisational structure, decisive action was needed to save the the larger group from financial collapse. The group was days away from missing financial obligations to the group's financiers so time was not a friend to Chris.
Chris was appointed as Acting Chief Executive with a mandate to save the larger group working with an independent Chair. Chris immediately set about defining a five-point restructuring plan and then executing it quickly and effectively. Including engaging directly with customers, suppliers and financiers to get their support for the the restructuring plan which was enormously successful. Internally, the loss-making division was disposed of at a value well beyond that of the assets. A restructuring plan of the remaining business units was completed within a month and overheads were slashed to bring them in line with best practice while also carefully managing cashflow.
All payments to financiers were met on time and in full without default. Within three months the remaining business units were break-even. Within six months the group had returned to consistent profitability and after nine months the remaining divisions are experiencing growth in revenue and profitability.
